Choosing a Bathroom Cabinet Sink

Of all types of fixtures in the bathroom, the largest one is the bathroom cabinet sink. It is not just a bathroom sink for washing the hands and brushing the teeth. It also acts as storage for linen, tissue, cleaning liquids, and various bathroom accessories. This function of the bathroom cabinet sink reduces the clutter that would have happen inside the bathroom. But since bathroom cabinet sinks are large, they easily become the focus of the eye. Thus, choosing a bathroom cabinet sink should be done carefully.
In choosing the bathroom cabinet sink, there are three major aspects to be considered: the sink, the countertop, and the cabinet. Decisions regarding the style, size, and materials of these three parts of the cabinet sink should be geared towards achieving harmony and attractiveness.
In choosing sinks, the buyer must decide whether he needs one or two sinks. Then he should look into the material used for molding the sink. The choices range from ceramic to marble to glass. The surface of the sink should also be smooth and durable. It should withstand erosion due to the chemicals, such as hair sprays, mouthwash, and cleaning liquids. Then, the color of the sink should be selected. The color should complement the color of the countertop and of the cabinet. They need not be of the same color but their colors should not clash. Bathroom cabinet sinks should be visually tasteful.
In choosing the countertop, many people opt to use the same material for the sink. But sometimes, this is not recommended. For practical purposes, the material used for the countertop need not be as expensive as the sink. If the sink is plain, the countertop may have designs. The size of the countertop should be sufficient to hold the toiletries that are frequently used. Bathroom cabinet sinks with small countertops do not really fulfill their major function.
And finally, in choosing the cabinet, the buyer has a wider range of choices for the construction materials. The recommended material is wood and there are different kinds of wood used for the cabinets, such as walnut wood, cherry wood, oak wood, and pinewood. The important thing to remember is to have the wood given a lacquer finish. There are also a variety of designs for the cabinets. Some cabinets are simply placed under the sink and countertop. Other cabinets are mounted into the wall above the sink and countertop. And still others are attached halfway inside the wall. These are called recessed cabinets. Bathroom cabinet sinks with recessed storage is more complicated to install but it can save a lot of space.
