Getting a High Quality Steam Shower
Steam showers are fast becoming popular because of the health benefit that results from steam therapy. But the enjoyment of such benefits become short-lived if the steam shower is of low quality. Therefore, before buying one unit, a careful consumer must carefully evaluate the rows of steam showers offered by a store and look for features that indicate better or high quality. Some of these features are the following.
Sturdy Aluminum Metal Frame. The consumer must remember that the walls of the steam shower are made of glass panels that are resistant to constant dampness and higher temperatures. Glass panels are heavy and require the structural support of a sturdy metal frame. The high quality steam shower frames are made of solid aluminum. The aluminum is not thinner than 1.5 millimeter. Consumers must avoid plastic frames or metal-coated plastic frames. Due to the plastic core, the metal will slowly erode and then the shower falls apart. To ensure that the frame is metal, the buyer can check the weight of the unit.
Chrome-Plated Metal Fixtures. The fixtures, such as the handles and the showerhead should be made of chrome-plated metal. The low-quality steam showers have chrome-plated plastics that look and feel cheap and weak. These plastics, despite the thickness, easily break apart. The chrome-plated metals, however, can withstand the wear and tear of using the shower.
Thick Dull-Colored Floor. The steam showers have floors that are made of acrylic. This material was chosen so that bacterial growth is prevented. But there are good-quality acrylics and poor-quality acrylics. The high quality steam showers have acrylic floors that are thick and dull-colored. If the floor is bright white, then it is made of poor-quality acrylic, which is a fire hazard. The user of steam showers have to ensure that the floor is not a fire hazard because the whole unit is electronically controlled. Steam generators underneath place water at boiling point to generate steam while jet sprays squirt out water that massages the body. These processes are not mere mechanical contraptions.
Reputable Manufacturer. Although brands do not always indicate the quality of products, it will be prudent for the buyer to get a steam shower from a reputable manufacturer. That is, the manufacturer must be known to conduct rigorous product tests to strictly ensure the quality of the steam showers. The same manufacturers also offer warranties. The buyer must also make sure that there is a vendor warranty.
