Types of Steam Shower Units
Steam showers are not only found in gyms but also in households. Families now include the purchase of a steam shower unit instead of having a simple shower room. This trend is influenced by the more affordable prices of steam shower units and the good publicity of health benefits that can be gained when using the steam shower. As the popularity of steam shower rises, there is also the birth of various types of steam shower units.
Steam showers that are bought by families are called the home steam shower units. They come in various shapes and sizes but the major parts are all the same. The unit comes in an enclosure and within the enclosure, the steam jet, the seat, and the extra space for bathroom toiletries. The number of steam jets varies from 6 to 32, depending on the preferences of the buyer. The steam jets are usually installed above the head, behind the back, and behind the legs. The purpose is to spray soothing steam that will ease the tension off the muscles.
Some home steam shower units come with various features that appeal to the modern consumer. These features include foot massagers, telephones, radio, MP3 or CD player, an IPod docking station, and even television. The steam therapy is also supported by aromatherapy or chromatherapy. Such home shower units are already considered as the most luxurious ones in the market. All home units are constructed for easy installation - plumbing and electricity can be easily connected. This is why some people try to become adventurous and build their own steam shower units.
The steam shower units that are utilized in gyms and spas are commercial steam shower units. These are stand-alone units that also possess the basic parts. But rarely do such units possess the extra features that home units have. At the same time, the commercial units are usually small and can accommodate only one person at a time. Home units, on the other hand, can accommodate two.
Another type of steam shower is called the portable unit or the steam capsule. It does not have a solid enclosure similar to the home units. It is considerably smaller too. The height of portable steam shower units barely reaches the chest of an average person. The user of this unit will need to turn on the steam generator from the outside before getting inside the pliable enclosure. These portable units are suitable for people who travel a lot and wanted to take along their steam showers with them.
